Annual traditions
Black Hawk Heights has a long record of resident-led gatherings. Two annual fall traditions are confirmed for Sunday, October 25, 2026: the 61st Annual Halloween Parade at 3:30 PM (rain or shine), followed by Chili Cook-off tasting at 4:45 PM and voting at 5:30 PM.
Halloween Parade
Established by the Blackhawk Heights Civic Group in 1965, the parade has brought generations of neighbors together each fall.
Chili Cook-off
An annual fall gathering where neighbors share chili and spend time together after the Halloween Parade.
Neighborhood Block Parties
Resident-organized block parties—including Rock the Heights in 2019—continue the neighborhood’s tradition of gathering close to home.

This surviving block-party logo combines the initials “BHH” with a vintage microphone. The exact 2019 date and location have not yet been documented, so the archive preserves only what is currently known.
